Origins / Background

Io, the enigmatic assassin with the power to cheat death, emerged from a clandestine government experiment gone awry. Her most recent self quickly rose through the ranks of the United Assassins Association (UAA), only to be struck down by a rival. To everyone's astonishment, Io reappeared days later, seeming completely unscathed.

With each death, Io's consciousness transfers to a new clone, retaining all memories and skills. This unique ability has transformed her into a formidable and feared wildcard in the UAA rankings. Io herself remains soft and introspective, paying respects to each past life and attempting to honor their memory by improving upon what was left behind.

Now that Io's ascent in the UAA rankings has been stopped by Travis, she spends her time soul-searching and puttering around his apartment, occasionally helping him on jobs (much to his apparent chagrin) and even taking on ranked assassins on his behalf.

Io: One of the few constants among her many lives. She thinks he's silly, but also very smart.
Travis: Thinks she's a little odd, but a fun companion regardless. He tried to stop her attempt at suicide upon his victory, as it reminded him of Holly Summers.

Travis: "You can't just treat every life you have like trash to throw away. Trying to stay alive is paying them more respect than just letting them go by being reckless."
Io: "I... never thought about it like that before. Perhaps you're right, Travis."

Io: Doesn't feel particularly strongly about her. Observes her dynamic with Travis from afar.
Sylvia: Views Io as a valuable asset to the UAA, as her resurrection boosted viewership, but also a potential threat to her control.

Sylvia: "What is the meaning of this?! I wasn't told that you had any sort of death-defying abilities! When I—when Travis killed you, you were supposed to stay dead!"
Io: "I don't intend to reclaim my ranking, Sylvia. I died, and therefore, Travis won. The fact that I'm here now means nothing."
